Bihar to set up local area body for implementing CM”s scheme
Patna, Jul 12 (PTI) The Bihar government today decided to set up a Local Area Engineering Organisation (LAEO) for implementation of the Chief Minister”s development scheme launched earlier this year after abolition of the MLA/MLC local area development fund, a senior official said.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Principal Secretary (Cabinet Coordination and Secretariat) Ravikant told reporters.
The state will create 2042 jobs of gazetted and non-gazetted officials under technical and non-technical categories for expeditious development of infrastructure works under the Chief Minister”s local area development scheme, he said.
The proposed LAEO will be set up under the planning and development department and will have three-layered structure at district, sub-division and state level, Ravikant said.
The Nitish Kumar government had abolished the MLA/MLC local area development fund with immediate effect earlier this year and instead launched the Chief Minister”s scheme.
