Diwali mela for the special
PATNA: With Patnaites in celebration mood, schools and clubs here are busy in celebrating Diwali. ‘Samarpan’, an institute for child development, mental health and rehabilitation for handicapped, here on Saturday organized a ‘Diwali mela’ at Kargil Chowk.
At the fair, products like candles, greeting cards, decorative items and toys made by physically challenged kids were on sale. On the occasion, director, ‘Samarpan’, Shivaji Kumar, said, “The money earned from the fair would be used to help the kids at our institute.”
S Raja Girls High School, Ali Nagar, here on Saturday organized a ‘diya’ making competition for the students of class VIII to X. About 150 students participated in the competition. Sonam and Monika together won the first prize, while the second prize was jointly bagged by Rishita and Anushka. Shrishti and Heena stood third in the competition. On the occasion, school principal Shiva Raza Khan explained the importance of Diwali in Indian culture to the students.
Meanwhile, Lions Club of Patliputra Ashok will organize ‘Diwali Milan’ on Sunday at Akshat Sewa Sadan, Yarpur. On the occasion, members of the club along with persons from different fields of society would celebrate Diwali.
