‘Haryali Teej’ celebrated with pomp and show
PATNA: Ladies Welfare Association of the Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) celebrated ‘Haryali Teej’ here on Friday at its community hall at Rajbansi Nagar.
More than 60 members of the association participated in the function and enjoyed the evening filled with cultural performances. Ladies dressed in green sarees, which was the colour theme of the function, also enjoyed ‘Sawan jhoola’ that was decorated with flowers.
Earlier, the function was inaugurated by Pushpa Chopra, president of the Mahila Udyog Sangh. The programme began with ‘Ganesh vandana’ followed by various musical performances like ‘jyoti kalash’ and ‘Sawan’ song ‘aaya Sawan jhoom ke’. Members of the club and their kids presented scintillating dance and song performances.
Anukampa Rai, president of the club, told TOI that the association was also involved in welfare works for the society. Within one year of its formation, it has already organised a symposium for school students on ‘Adverse effect of diabetes on health’. To promote Indian culture, the association is also running free music classes.
Shemrock Kids, Khajepura also celebrated ‘Sawan queen’ competition for mothers of the students. Small kids left the audience spellbound with their dance performances.
Lots of games such as ‘tongue twister’, ‘blow up balloon’ and ‘chit game’ were organized for mothers. Kids gave dance and singing performances. School principal Sushma Prasad proposed a vote of thanks.
