Patna Dairy gears up for Diwali
PATNA: Patna Dairy, which sells its products under the ‘Sudha’ brand, has geared up to meet the spurt in demand for milk and milk products on the occasion of Diwali.
Speaking to TOI, Dairy managing director (MD) Sudhir Kumar Singh said that against an average supply of 1.70 lakh litres of milk per day, the supply would be increased to 2.50 lakh litres on the occasion of Diwali.
He said that at a time when adulterated sweets and ghee have been recovered in large quantities during raids by the law enforcing agencies, ‘Sudha’ brand carries assurance of quality and purity. Therefore, like previous years, demand for items like ghee, paneer and peda has witnessed a sharp climb in the run up to Diwali.
“Against a supply of one tonne peda on normal days, the Dairy will on Diwali day supply 9 tonnes of peda. Similarly, paneer’s supply will be stepped up from the normal 600-700 kg per day to 5,000 kg on Diwali. Besides, 10 tonnes of ghee will be supplied in the run-up to Diwali,” Singh said.
He added that the Dairy’s expansion plans are progressing satisfactorily. First trial of its upcoming Biharsharif diary plant has been conducted. With a capacity to process four lakh litres of milk per day, the plant’s water trial has been completed. Commercial production at the plant is expected to commence soon after Chhath.
Similarly, the Dairy’s upcoming Hajipur plant is nearing commercial production. “The plant was charged with ammonia recently. It is likely to start production sometime in December,” the managing director stated.
