Patna girls win science drama contest

PATNA: The city’s Srikrishna Science Centre on Tuesday organized a science drama contest in collaboration with the State Council for Education, Research and Training (SCERT). Select students from across the state staged 30-minute dramas on themes like ‘Biodiversity’, ‘Wonder World of Chemistry’, ‘Life and Works of Scientists’, ‘Water’ and ‘Energy’.

The team of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School-Shastrinagar (Patna) won the first prize for its drama on ‘Biodiversity’ while the second prize went to the team of Pariyojana Balika Uchcha Vidyalaya-Nirmali (Supaul) which staged a drama on ‘Water’. The drama on ‘Biodiversity’ by the team of B B M Uchcha Vidyalaya-Purnia won the third prize.

In individual category, Suraj Kumar of B B M Uchcha Vidyalaya-Purnia won the best actor award while the best actress award went to Pallavi Kumari of Mahendra High School Government Inter College-Ziradei (Siwan). The best director award was given to Archana Chaudhary of Government Girls’ High School-Shastrinagar. Fulgen Purbey of Shri Baliram High School-Sakra (Muzaffarpur) won the Best Script Writer acclaim.

The winners will represent Bihar in the eastern zone Science Drama Contest, scheduled to be held at Birla Industrial & Technological Museum in Kolkata. Altogether 72 students and teachers from the state’s eight divisions participated in the Tuesday’s contest.
